So now you are here...

What is this wonderful place?

Well, thegoodharvest.net is the internet home of famed web developer James Augustus Hall, which is me. Here I showcase internet stuff (websites and such) I have created or helped to create. I build websites for a living and you can contact me at jhall[at]thegoodharvest.net. I can also be found at eROI (Mon - Fri), I live in Portland Oregon.

Didn't this site used to be different?

It sure did. This site used to be powered by the awesome blog publishing tool Wordpress. I still love working with Wordpress, but I decided that a blog platform wasn't really necessary for this site. Simplification, zing.

How it's done!

First I plan it out. Before designing and building, planning is where it's at. Another thing that gets me going (in a super nerdy way) is building websites in a way that keeps content and style separate from one another. Making sites that are Bulletproof (flexible) is usually my end goal. As I build, I am always on the lookout for new things to learn.

What is used?

I use a lot of tools to accomplish my goals. A quick list includes CSS, XHTML, Flash/Actionscript, JavaScript, PHP, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. More than just the main programs and technologies, the web is full of open source tools that are amazingly useful to the savvy web developer. I mentioned Wordpress earlier, but that's just the icing on the cake. There is a more complete list on the right.

How do I contact this guy James?

Shoot on over an eMail. jhall@thegoodharvest.net is the address.
